While community voices are frustrated by the pace of progress and fearful of continuing violence, the best hope for bringing peace and safety to all of Chicago’s communities is a comprehensive approach combining more effective law enforcement, common-sense gun regulation, direct engagement with young people at risk of violent encounters, robust family services for the communities most directly affected, and greater economic investments in every neighborhood of Chicago.
