Statement: Investing in local people and community-led work is what it takes to keep Chicago safe
“Community-led violence reduction efforts are making a real difference. Chicago is on track to see one of its lowest homicide rates in years, with crime falling across nearly every category. This progress is no accident: neighborhood organizations, together with nonprofits, philanthropy, business, and government, have built one of the nation’s most effective community violence intervention networks. Community-driven solutions work. They save lives.
But behind every statistic is a person, a family, a neighborhood still grieving. While we celebrate our achievements, there is much more to be done.
Investing in local people and community-led work is what it takes to keep Chicago safe.”
